FTP Website Instructions

The ExpoDisplays FTP site allows you to exchange large files by directly accessing a portion of our mail server. The FTP site works in a similar way as downloading files off the internet. The Graphics Department prefers to receive files on disk or e-mail whenever possible, but the FTP site can be used for tight deadlines. You must own and be proficient in FTP software.

Here are some of the uses/benefits of using the FTP site:

• Immediate file transfers - Needed files can be uploaded/downloaded directly to/from our company server. Great for files that need to be rushed to the proper department.
• Speed - Faster transfers than via e-mail, and definitely better than snail mail.
• Large file transfers - Eliminates long email download times, size rejection by internet service provider, or the delay often experienced when using some of the larger internet providers. (Our email can only accept files smaller than 9mb.)
• Email address not required - User only needs FTP software and the FTP site information to log on our server.

Scenario: You wish to upload a file to our FTP server (for example, you need to rush artwork to the proper department)

1. The following information allows you to gain access to the FTP site for transfer:

Path: www.expodisplays.com
User: graphics
Password: expodisplays
(This information tells the client address and log-on information to gain access to our FTP site.)

Access to the FTP site may be acquired directly through some PC internet browsers such as Internet Explorer by typing ftp://graphics@www.expodisplays.com in the address bar.  

* In Internet Explorer you may have to turn off passive mode in your Upload Programs preferences. You can find this under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Browsing. Uncheck the box beside the line stating "Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)"

2. Name your files with the order or quote number included. Then place the file into a folder with the job/company name. (please do not use spaces or characters in file or folder names). Load the file to the FTP site with your FTP client or drag and drop in the browser window.

2. Inform Delaine Green (delaine@expodisplays.com) with an email that your files are uploaded to the FTP site. Please include information such as Job/Quote number, account executive, Job name, file name and contact information. She will then log on the FTP site and transfer the files to the Graphics Department, or any other department you specify.
